Michael Heil - Class of 1969

Michael J. Heil, age 72, left this world as a hero on Thursday, August 31, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He is now with the angels, as a soldier in God's army.
Born in 1951, he grew up in North Philadelphia, graduating from Mastbaum High School. He went on to become a loyal Army Veteran, serving in the 101st Airborne Division, completing 17 jumps as a paratrooper, and driving tanks. For many years after he was employed as a Diesel Mechanic with several companies, spending most of those years working for Ryder Trucking Company. Michael was a longtime resident of Croydon, PA, and more recently resided in Penndel PA.
Michael was also a well-loved member of the Joseph A. Schumacher V.F.W. Post 1597 of Croydon since 2012. Proudly serving 3 terms as a Trustee, 2 terms as Adjutant and 1 term as Commander. Spending time with his fellow Veterans, and giving back to his military community was one of his favorite past times. He was especially proud of their annual Memorial Day Parade that he helped organize for many years.
Above all Michael's favorite thing was spending time with his family, and spoiling his 7 grandchildren, who called him Poppie. He enjoyed fishing, cheering on the Phillies and Eagles ("Igles"), bowling, playing the lottery, throwing darts, and playing shuffleboard. For the past 18 years, he loved vacationing with his family to Ocean City, NJ., especially the annual family seafood fest.
Beloved son of the late Florence (Smith) and Charles Heil, he is survived by his wife of 51 years Maryann (Feulner), his children Dr. Jennifer L. Saylor (James), Michael J. Heil, II (Tricia), Melissa M. Heil, Matthew C. Heil (Susan), his nephew Walt C. Heil (Bobbi Jean), and his grandchildren Jimmy, Justin, Corinne, Lucas, Maddy, Landon, and Logan. Michael is also survived by his sister Anne Romanovich, his brother William Heil and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend his Life Celebration on Sunday September 10, 2023 from 3 to 5 pm and on Monday September 11, 2023 from 9 to 10 am at Beck Givnish Funeral Home 7400 New Falls Rd. Levittown, Pa. 19055. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 11 am at Our Lady of Grace Church Bellevue Ave. Penndel. Friends are also invited to attend his interment service in Washington Crossing National Cemetery precisely at 11:30 am on Tuesday, September 19, 2023. In lieu of flowers, send memorial contributions to the Joseph A. Schumacker V.F.W. post 901 Bellevue Ave. Croydon, Pa. 19021 would be appreciated by the family.
