I just found my friends mass card and his date of passing is November 22, 2000. I worked with John as a Police Officer. I recall he would come to work and be eating peanut butter crackers and a cup of coffee. I would always tease him about that. John was a very meticulous officer and took pride in his appearence and work. He was honest, credible, firm and had a great up beat attitude. We actually bumped heads a bit and I rememeber he would talk about his Sig pistol and smile and say how it was so accurate.I finally suggested we go to the range together. We did and I will say he was probably the best shooter I have ever stood with and on par with a once instructor friend I had. We ended up hanging around for about 3 hours and sitting afterward and just talking about things. John had many skills and had told me he was an Elvis impersonator and entertainer. He loved guitars and would tell me about them but he could have been speaking chinese because I was just ignorant of guitars. I think of John frequently and I know some people have baseless fears of firearms however they connected John and I as friends and not just co workers. John proudly wore a shooting badge he earned that said "Distinguished 100". A tough achievement to obtain. This was a badge that was part of his actual uniform. Some mornings or evenings I will have a cup of coffee and a pack of peanut butter crackers along with many thoughts about this man who I considered a true friend. God Speed John, your friend John Leca.
