Miss Keating was a good English teacher but I don't think I paid much attention if she taught about things like verbs, participles, etc.  I'm still confused about that stuff.  One thing I'll never forget about her was how, five minutes before the end of class, she'd assign someone to go to her closet and get a pile of Reader's Digests to hand out.  We all groaned, including me.  I thought, how can I possibly read anything worthwhile in five minutes?  To my surprise I did, and have been a devoted lover of Readers Digest ever since. Thank you Miss Keating, I'll always remember you for opening my eyes that many years ago.  My son Dan isn't as happy though, I must have hundreds of them stacked in boxes 6 feet high.  He may be groaning now but maybe one day he'll love then too.
