Robert J. "Bobby" Brown, Jr. passed away on November 7, 2024, at the age of 67. Born on January 15, 1957, he was a cherished son, brother, father, and friend, whose warmth and passion for life touched all who knew him.
A proud graduate of Mastbaum High School in 1975, Bobby soon followed his sense of duty and adventure by enlisting in the United States Navy. During his service, he played a vital role in the evacuation of civilians and soldiers during the Vietnam War, demonstrating courage and dedication to his country.
After honorable service, Bobby returned to civilian life and began a long and dedicated career as a machinist at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard in South Philadelphia, where he worked until his well-earned retirement.
Bobby was an avid Philadelphia sports fan, known for experiencing every high and low of each sports season with enthusiasm. He enjoyed attending Phillies games and often traveled to various baseball stadiums with family and friends, sharing his love for the game.
His passion extended beyond sports to music. Bobby had a deep love for music and cherished attending live shows. As a devoted supporter of WXPN public radio, he found joy and community through music.
Bobby was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Robert J. Brown, Sr. and Pauline Brown (née Melchert), and his brother, William Brown. He is survived by his loving daughter, Amy C. Diaczenko, and her husband, Pete; his devoted son, Robert J. Brown, Jr.; his former wife, Ruthanne Magee Brown; his sister, Cheryl McLaverty; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends who will dearly miss him.
His family will receive relatives and friends, Saturday, November 16, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Campbell and Thomas Funeral Home. His funeral service will follow at 12:00 Noon.
