John M. Fackler - Class of 1971

October 29, 1953 - December 10, 2024

 

John M. Fackler, age 71, longtime resident of Palmyra, NJ passed peacefully on December 10, 2024.

 

Born in 1953 to the late Anna and Christian Fackler, he grew up in Northeast Philadelphia and had lived in Palmyra, NJ for over 40 years. John was a graduate of Mastbaum High School, and in his younger years he was an avid hunter and talented musician who played guitar in several German style bands that would regularly perform at the Cannstatter Volksfest-Verein and the Bayerischer Volksfest-Verein.

 

John’s primary career was working as a Machinist, spending many years with Bodine Manufacturing and then he worked for several years as a slot machine technician at Bally’s Casino in Atlantic City. He also loved computers and enjoyed working part-time for CompUSA. John was a talented photographer and loved to travel with his family. They enjoyed annual trips to Busch Gardens in Virginia and especially to Disney World in Florida, since he loved everything Disney, and even more so at Christmastime, his favorite holiday. He was a loyal Philly Sports fan who always followed his Phillies and Eagles.

 

John is survived by his dear wife of 48 years, Carol A. Fackler, and their loving daughters Suzie Fackler and Jeanine Fackler. Grand-cats, Francesca, Olivia, and Geroge. Also surviving are his siblings, Bernie Fackler (Pam) and Christine Sweeney (John), his nephew, Nicholas Sweeney, his mother-in-law, Kay Knopp, along with many nieces and nephews and extended family members. 

 

A funeral service for John will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Bethany Lutheran Church, Broad St. & Morgan Ave., Palmyra, NJ 08065 where family and friends may gather from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM prior to the service. Any donations can be made in John's name to Bethany Lutheran Church.
