Edward Hammond Jr

Edward Hammond Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by James J. Terry Funeral Home - Coatesville on Jan. 23, 2024.

Edward W. Hammond, Jr., 72, of Coatesville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at Temple University Hospital.
Ed was a devoted husband to Donna Hollander Hammond, with whom he shared 47 years of marriage, along with two daughters, Lindsey Ackell (Joe) and Rachel O'Brien (Kyle). He was the best Poppy to his four grandchildren: Hayden Elizabeth, Nolan Edward, Kellen Robert, and Ellison Mae.
Ed was commonly known for his love of fishing, cooking, his "collections" and searching for the best deal (whether the item was truly needed or not). He never missed a good yard sale or flea market. Anyone that interacted with Ed enjoyed his company and commentary, whether you knew him for 5 minutes or 5 years. He was affectionately known as "Steady Eddie" because he could always be counted on to solve a problem or rescue someone in a pinch. He put others before himself, including through his civic duties. Ed dedicated his efforts to his community serving on the Valley Township Board of Supervisors (1999-2009), including as Chairman of the Board (03-04), and the Valley Township Planning Commission Board (2003-2013).
Born in Philadelphia, Ed was the son of the late Edward W. Sr. and Theresa Gostkowski Hammond. He is also predeceased by his sisters, Theresa Ludlam and Fran Peluso. He is survived by his brother, Ron Hammond (Reenie), and sister, Donna Pasquarella (Val), and many nieces and nephews who will miss him tons.
An evening visitation will be held on Friday, January 26th from 6 to 8 pm at the Valley Township location of the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 1060 W. Lincoln Highway, Coatesville.
A morning visitation will be held from 10 to 10:45 am on Saturday, January 27th, also at the funeral home, where his service will take place at 11am.
Having been an honored and grateful recipient of a double lung transplant, Mr. Hammond's family request donations in his memory be made to the Gift of Life Donor Program. To contribute by check, please make the check out to Transplant Foundation and mail to Gift of Life Donor Program, 401 N. 3rd. St., Philadelphia, PA

Very sorry to hear about Ed. I had lunch with him several months ago and we shared many funny stories about our time at Mastbaum. My condolences to his family. Rest in Peace Ed.
