Patricia (Pat) Halbe (74) passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2025
Pat was the oldest daughter of Harry and Alice Halbe, who preceded her in death. She was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA before moving to Mount Laurel in 1977.
She is survived by her four loving children: Joseph Maeder (Lori), Jamie Emery (Donald), Michael Maeder and Brett Maeder (Jillian McCann) as well as 7 wonderful grandchildren: Marissa Maeder, Joey Maeder, Collin Emery, Carly Emery, Kinsley Emery, Brett D Maeder, and Savanna Maeder. She also loved her 2 dogs, Gil and Rosie.
Pat is also survived by her three loving sisters: Linda Paul (Rich), Alice Garbarino (Walter), Mary Oczkowski (Marc)
Pat lived a remarkable life dedicated to community service. She graduated from Mastbaum AVTS in 1969 and worked for seven years as an assistant to the chief surgeon of the city of Philadelphia. She married and moved to Mount Laurel in 1977.
Her commitment to helping others was evident in her volunteer work. In 1983, Pat became an EMT with the Masonville emergency squad, rising to the ranks of Second Lieutenant and President. She became the first female volunteer firefighter for the Masonville Fire Department in 1984. She graduated from the Burlington County Fire Academy. She was elected as a Mount Laurel fire commissioner in 1986.
Pat transitioned her dedication into a distinguished career in local government, beginning as the Municipal Clerk of Mount Laurel Township in 1988. From 1994 to 2008, she handled the dual role of Township Manager/Municipal Clerk. During her extensive tenure, she also served on the Mount Laurel Township Planning Board (1994–2007), the Mount Laurel Library Board (1995–2010), and as the acting director of the Paws Farm Nature Center. She retired in 2011.
Pat also served as a manager for the Lenape Indians ice hockey team for several years.
Pat’s favorite activities were going to the beach at LBI, the Larchmont swim club, freshwater fishing, reading, and making hats for the homeless.
No public ceremony will be held at her request. Pat asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Cedar Run Wildlife Center in Medford, New Jersey.
