Georgina Kay Steinford - Class of 1962
June 12, 1944 – April 18, 2021
Georgina Kay Steinford was born on June 12, 1944 to George and Catalina Davis, the second of 6 children - 4 sisters and a brother. The family lived in Philadelphia, PA, where Georgina graduated from Mastbaum Technical High School in 1962. She worked in the secretarial field for several years, eventually moving to King of Prussia, PA, where she worked for General Electric Space Division and met her future husband, Bill. They were married on Sept. 30, 1972 and moved to Florida for the launch of Skylab. Nine months later, they were back in Pennsylvania, where their daughter Caroline was born. Three years later, son William followed. The most loving and capable mother, Georgina taught her children to love learning and to not be afraid to try new things.
Georgina was loving, kind, generous, and hospitable. She spent years volunteering at her children's school libraries. She was always ready to lend a hand when anyone needed help. She was a talented and enthusiastic cook, seamstress, knitter, and decorator, frequently using her skills to create gifts for others. She loved animals, especially birds and cats. Her favorite flowers were yellow roses, and she had a green thumb, cultivating orchids. She excelled at puzzles of all kinds and was a lifelong lover of old movies and mysteries. It was partly for the challenge of figuring out the solution, but also because she was a lover of justice. She often said that this was one of the qualities that drew her to the Bible and the God of justice, Jehovah. A loving mother, Georgina was also concerned about what the future would hold for her two young children, so she was delighted when Jehovah's Witnesses called at her home and she learned that the Bible promises there will be a happy, peaceful future under the rulership of God's kingdom ruled by Jesus Christ, which will fulfill his original purpose by bringing paradise conditions to the earth and removing sickness, death, poverty, injustice, prejudice, and every other problem humans face today. - Daniel 2:44; Psalm 37:29; Revelation 21:3, 4.
On May 15, 1982, Georgina was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Over the years, she attended the Fairview Village, Newtown, and Morrisville, PA Congregations. Georgina served her God Jehovah wholeheartedly. She loved studying the Bible's wonderful truths and made every effort to share them with others. She assisted in the building of the Newtown-Yardley Kingdom Hall and volunteered at Buckingham Assembly Hall for many years. She raised her children to share her strong faith, and they and her husband joined her in worship of Jehovah. Georgina was a good and faithful daughter to her own parents.
In 2014, Georgina was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis, at which time she became housebound. She continued to care for others in any way she could, praying for them daily and communicating by telephone, email, and cards. She continued her ministry through writing letters to neighbors and sharing in congregation meetings, participating whenever possible. She trusted fully in the Bible's promise of an earthly resurrection for those who have died, and looked forward to being with her loved ones again. She is sleeping now, but the next sound she will hear will be Jesus' voice saying her name. - John 5:28, 29.
Georgina set a sterling example of strong faith, love for others, and determination. She was a great encouragement to many. She made an effort to look for the positive in every situation and to help others do the same. She had many favorite scriptures, but top among them was Isaiah 41:10, which says: "Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be anxious, for I am your God. I will fortify you, yes, I will help you, I will really hold on to you with my right hand of righteousness.'"
On the night of April 18, 2021, Georgina passed away at home with her husband and daughter nearby. She will be greatly missed by all. She was preceded in death by her parents, George E. Davis Sr. and Catalina Larsen Davis, her sister Judith, and her brother George. She is survived by her husband William H. Steinford, daughter Caroline Steinford, son William Steinford, daughter-in-law Naomi Steinford, sisters Gloria Bean, Veronica Danilowicz, and Dorothea Hopely (Tim), and many nieces and nephews.
A virtual service will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021. It will be private at the request of the family
