Harry Tillmann - Class Of 1960

Harry Tillmann

Harry A. Tillmann of Langhorne, Pennsylvania passed away on Friday, August 23, 2024 at his home in Ocean City, MD. He was 83 years old. Harry was born June 1, 1941 in Buetow, Germany, son of the late Franz Tillmann and the late Maria Geschwent (nee - Kutkat). He is the beloved husband of Inge (nee Wittmann) Tillmann; father of Martina Ploucher-Keys and her husband the late Frank, Christina Tillmann-Paul and her husband Steven; grandfather of Heidi, Derek Ploucher (Samantha Hecht), Michelle McFadden (John), Stephen Paul, and Sabrina Keys (Justin Lewandowski); great grandfather of Joseph Coyle, Jackson Masterson, Tyler Masterson, Ava Ploucher, Dylanger Ploucher, Forest Lewandowski, and Delanie Rae McFadden; brother of Ronald Tillmann and his wife Christel.

Harry and his family emigrated in 1944 to Poland, then again to Hamburg, Germany in 1945, and made their final move to the United States in 1951. The family lived in North Philadelphia, where Harry was educated and graduated from Jules E. Mastbaum High School 1959. Harry joined the US Army in 1961 and was discharged in 1964. He served overseas in Germany where he met Inge Wittmann while out on leave. They met in August of 1962 and were married the following year. The celebrated 61 years of happy marriage just 2 weeks ago.

Harry was a skilled carpenter for many years. He decided to change professions and apprenticed with Sheet Metal Union Local 19. He used his new skill set to start Pyramid Sheet Metal, an HVAC company, with his partner Roger Hoffmann.

Harry was an active member for many years of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church and Hermann - Humboldt Lodge No. 125 F.& A.M. He was also a lifelong dedicated member of the Vereinigung Erzgebirge, a member of the Cannstatter Volksfest-Verein, United German Hungarians and the Bayerischer Volksfest Verein.

Harry collected cars, enjoyed fishing, participated in the White Marlin Open in MD, he was often found in the water riding his waverunners, loved being in the sun and at the beach, and he loved to travel with his beloved wife Inge.

Relatives and friends were invited to his viewing on Thursday, August 29, 2024 from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M., Masonic service at 10:15 A.M. and funeral service at 10:30 A.M. with military honors rendered by the United States Army all held at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 14100 Worthington Road, Philadelphia, PA 19116.

Religious services were conducted by Rev. Sandra Brown from Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church.
