Matthew J. Graeber Sr. of Plymouth Meeting, Pa., passed away after a long illness on Friday, March 6, 2015 at Mercy Suburban Hospital in East Norriton, Pa. He was 73.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, Pa., Matt resided in Plymouth Meeting for over 30 years. He owned and operated Matt's Signs in Philadelphia which later became Graeber Studios in Norristown, Pa. He worked for over 50 years in the Sign Business.
Born in Philadelphia, Pa., on Jan. 20, 1942, he was a son of the late Matthew J. & Marie (Nogowski) Graeber. He was the loving husband of 45 years of Grace (Martin) Graeber.
Matt was a self-taught artist and did political cartoons for the Norristown Times Herald. He was interested in the UFO phenomenon and stared The UFO Report and Information Center (UFORIC). He wrote and illustrated many articles for various UFO magazines over the years.
He was a member of Storehouse Church in Plymouth Meeting. He attended Mastbaum Vocational High School of Philadelphia and Philadelphia Community College. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving with the 1st Battle Group of the 18th Infantry, where he was recognized for his meritorious performance of his military duty.
Matt had a contagious laugh and wonderful sense of humor. He had many friends who adored him and he loved his family. His whole life was devoted to being a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Matt was one of a kind and will never be forgotten.
Besides his wife, Matt is survived by his son, Matthew J. Graeber Jr.; his daughters Tina Graeber and Christel Logan; grandchildren Marie, Casondra, John, Robert & Monica; great-grandchildren Christian & Nicholas; brothers Barry Graeber, Dennis Graeber, Tripoli Reale Jr. and George Reale; sisters Carol Locker and Tina Haydamacha; and his loyal dog and buddy, Boomer.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Monica Graeber.
A memorial funeral service for Matt will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at 11 a.m. from the Moore, Snear & Ruggiero Funeral Home, 19 East Germantown Pike, East Norriton, Pa. JR Rushik will be officiating.
Friends may call on Wednesday morning from 9:30-11 a.m. at the Funeral Home. Interment will be private at Washington Crossing National Cemetery at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate Contributions in Matt's name be sent to Storehouse Church, 1090 Germantown Pike, Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462.
