My buddy!
Lawrence Bosler (1958)
I had only one semi-close friend during the high school period; his name was Bob Honer. He was a drafting student who I met, and exchanged trunks with, on the soccer team; his were too big...mine were too small. At times we would spend Saturdays together just kicking a soccer ball around the Sears parking lot near my home, which was usually empty during these years. Other times we might go to the Penn Valley pool for a day's swim.
It was with Bob that I went to the Churchville Reservoir area about one week before graduation to pick (and eat) wild strawberries. What I got was the worst case of poison ivy you could imagine. It stayed with me through all of the pre-graduation activities and graduation itself. Can you imagine how hard it is not to scratch yourself in front of a thousand people?
