Walter Bottomley

Walter P. “Walt” Bottomley passed away suddenly on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at his residence in Douglassville, PA. He was 76. Mr. Bottomley worked as a Mechanical Engineer for DuPont, GE, Lockheed Martin and RCA. He invented the low speed camera and helped develop Communication Satellites. Walt enjoyed fixing things, and watching movies, mostly action and sci-fi. He loved Newport, RI and Cape Cod and spending time with his family. Walt had vast knowledge on a broad number of subjects and enjoyed talking to people about everything, especially history. He loved to tell people funny stories about jobs he had and his time in the Army Reserves. Born in Philadelphia, PA on February 27, 1940, he was a son of the late Walter and Cecelia (Gebka) Bottomley. Surviving is his loving family including a son, Paul Bottomley and his wife, Casey; two daughters, Jill Ronewicz and her husband, Stan, and Joyce Bottomley; a granddaughter, Lauren Bottomley; a brother, Joseph Bottomley; and a sister, Mary Prendergast and her husband, George. He was preceded in death by his ex-wife, Merlee Bottomley and a sister-in-law, Jean Bottomley. Walt’s Funeral Service will be held at The Bacchi Funeral Home & Crematory, Ltd., 805 DeKalb St. (Rt. 202), Bridgeport, PA on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at 11:00 am. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 10 to 10:50 am, at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
