Earle William Hanna - Class of 1956
Earle William Hanna, Sr. of Philadelphia, PA, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2024. He was 88 years old. Born in Philadelphia on November 12, 1936, he was the loving son of the late Elizabeth Loeser and brother to the late, Mary.
Earle was a proud graduate of Mastbaum High School and went on to further his studies at Temple University, always craving to expand his knowledge on a variety of topics. For some time, he was employed with Philadelphia Gas Works until partnering with an associate in the operation of a heating and air conditioning business. However, the entrepreneurial spirit within him led Earle to branch out on his own, combining it with his interest in insects. He eventually started his own exterminating business in 1968 and worked until the ripe age of 80 when he decided to retire. He was diligent and detailed in all that he did, and Earle gained the respect and trust of his community throughout these years.
Earle was also a man of strong faith and love for his country. He was a longtime congregant of Langhorne Presbyterian Church and was an active member of the choir; and in his younger years, a member of the Navy Reserves.
In his quieter moments, when not working, he doted on his family. Creating memories with them was one of his favorite pastimes and where he could combine his passion for skiing and traveling with them, Earle definitely made the most of those moments. He had a special affinity for Alaska, Egypt, and especially Guatemala, with his church. He was also an avid writer and was especially proud having authored and published two books!
Earle will be eternally loved and missed by his family, friends, and colleagues over the years.
Earle is survived by his loving children - son, Earle, Jr. (Dina) and daughter, Jennifer Walentukonis; his beloved grandchildren, Brad and Hanna; his ex-wife, Diane, and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to Earle’s Life Celebration on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, from 10:00-11:00am at Dunn-Givnish Funeral Home, 378 South Bellevue Avenue, Langhorne, PA 19047. His Funeral Service will follow at 11:00am.
Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery, Philadelphia.
