Thomas Potts - Class of 1955

Thomas Gordon Potts Jr. peacefully passed away on June 27, 2023, surrounded by his wife and children.
He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1937, the son of Thomas Gordon Potts, Sr. and Cora Mair.
After graduating from Mastbaum High School, Tom proudly served his country in the United States Navy, including onboard the CA-74 USS Columbus where he worked as a machinist. After serving in the Navy, he worked for the Philadelphia Electric Company for 30 years, and later at the Southampton Estates.
Tom is preceded in death by his son, Scott, his first wife Roberta (nee McGee), and his sisters Barbara (nee Wenner) and Eleanor (nee Price).
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Kathleen (nee Gaskill), his sons Thomas G. Potts III (Gail), Richard Potts, and Michael Potts (Theresa), and his daughter Melissa Potts Meade (Jonathan). Tom was a loving Granddad to Michael (Megan), Steven (Kara), Taylor (Alina), Kelsey (Patrick), Troy, Sean, Luke and Lily, and also a proud Great granddad to Brianna, Blair, Brent, Grace, Emery, Gwenivere. Tom was reserved in spirit, but fiercely loyal and family and friendships meant much to him. In return, he was loved deeply by many, and each seemingly had their own nickname for him including Tom, Tommy, Gordon, Pottsie, Granddad, Pop, Kato, and Mr. Potts.
His quiet demeanor reflected an adventuresome life often shared through his stories over a meal or visit with him. A regular borrower at the library, he was an avid reader of novels. He rode motorcycles much of his life, occasionally on long rides with his close friends.
Tom was a fan of sports of all types and could often be found both on the local fields watching his children and grandchildren play sports, or at home cheering on the Eagles and Phillies. He was also an avid corn hole player. Tom was a mechanic, a machinist, and a fixer at heart, always willing to help anyone in any way he could. He volunteered widely at church and in the community. He will be remembered for his dedication and service to his family, community, and country.
