Florence Taylor (Duclair)

Florence Taylor DuClair - Class of 1945

Florence Helena Taylor DuClair passed away on March 7, 2018.  She was born on September 9, 1926, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late William and Serena Taylor. Florence was the second eldest of thirteen children, three boys and ten girls. She was educated in the Philadelphia Public School System.

She graduated from Mastbaum High School at the top of her class as a secretary. She landed a job with the United States Government Social Security Administration Department in Baltimore, Maryland. Where she was living at that time. In 1947, she met and married William Arthur Perkins, Jr., whom she loved dearly.

Unfortunately, he died serving his country during his first tour of duty in Vietnam as a United States Marine. She grieved for some time as he was her pride and joy. After a while God gave her a new lease on life, and she shared her love in her own home as a day care.

She was very creative in artistic activities such as crocheting, knitting and beautiful ceramics. She loved being in and near the sandy shores of Atlantic City.

Years later, she met and married Benny DuClair as they resided in Willingboro, NJ then later moved to Pleasantville, NJ. She was an active member at Faith Baptist Church, engaged in bible studies, visiting the sick and shut in, and a volunteer at the local voting polls. After many years of employment she decided to retire. Her loving spirit will always be remembered.

She sadly leaves to mourn two sisters, Serena Mordicai and Elizabeth Conway; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Services will be Noon, Saturday, March 24, 2018, Faith Baptist Church, 829 Tilton Road, Pleasantville, NJ, where friends may call from 10AM. Interment to follow in Atlantic City Cemetery.
