Olga Marollo Cross - Class of 1945

Olga Cross (Nee: Marrollo), Wug/Mom/Nonna/Grandmom/Great-Grandmom, 94, took her final breath on Thursday, March 10th, 2022 at 1:45 pm, at Wiley Christian Mission in Marlton, NJ. She was surrounded by family and friends as the Lord called her home.
Olga was born at home on August 18th, 1927 in Philadelphia, PA to Rinaldo and Jennie Marrollo. As a first-generation Italian-American, Italian was her first language.
She graduated in 1945 from Mastbaum High School in Philadelphia and was President of her Senior class. Olga forged a friendship with 8 of her high school friends that lasted over 70 years. They called themselves the "Sorority" and got together once a month over all those years. They and their husbands took trips twice a year throughout those years as well.
As a stay-at-home mom for 30 years, Olga was very involved in her children's lives. She was President of the PTA in the Edgewater Park School District, a room mom, cub scout leader, Brownie leader, softball coach, chaired school bazaar committees, church carnivals, and various sports activities. She dedicated many years serving families in her community.
At the age of 50 and for the next 20 years, Olga worked as an aide and bus driver for special needs children which was a life-long passion of hers. At 70, after moving to LeisureTowne, she started volunteering for the neighborhood watch.
Olga loved painting, traveling, going on faith retreats, her Philadelphia Phillies, and her biggest love of all was her family.
To say Olga's glass was always half full is an understatement. She was up for any adventure and saw the good in all people. Olga never had a bad word to say about anyone and was recognized for her kindness by everyone immediately upon meeting her.
Olga's strong Christian faith led her to a life of service. She was a lector for more than 50 years at St. Joseph's Church in Beverly, NJ as well as The Church of Holy Eucharist in Tabernacle, NJ. She dedicated 20 years of her life as a CCD teacher and volunteered for various church organizations and for individuals in need over the years.
At the age of 20, Olga married her husband Harry and started a family having 7 children from the time she was 23 till 43.
Olga was preceded in death by her husband Harry D. Cross, parents Rinaldo and Jennie Marrollo, brothers Thomas (Marlene) Marrollo and Dante (Frances) Marrollo, and son Daniel (survived by: Dyan) Cross.
Olga was survived by her other 6 children: Harry (Monique), Michael, Jennifer (Geoff), Jeanette (Jay), Rita (Dave), and Timothy as well as daughters-in-law Mary, Debbie, Heather, and Jen, as well as her 24 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was also survived by hundreds of extended family both in the U.S. and Italy. Her many friends will miss her dearly, especially her closest friend, Barbara Margolis. Olga's spirit will forever live on in those she leaves behind.
