Ruth Knorr, of Philadelphia, PA, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2024. She was 99 years old.
Born on April 16, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Edwin and Elsie (Redmen) Shackleton. A lifelong resident of Philadelphia, Ruth was a proud graduate of Mastbaum High School. On November 16, 1946, she married the love of her life, Albert E. Knorr. They traveled through life, raised their family, and were side by side for 64 years until Albert's passing in 2010. She was devoted to her family; it was the very joy in her heart.
Ruth was a woman of great faith, with an unconditional love for God and her church. She was proud of her English heritage, always enjoying a proper cup of tea or attending High Tea with her daughter on special occasions. She and Albert enjoyed their daily walks in retirement and in quieter moments, Ruth enjoyed settling in to watch any and all movies on the Hallmark channel, gardening, sewing, baking. and cooking for her family and friends. She was a regular "Martha Stewart!"
In addition to her husband, Ruth was predeceased by her son, Alan, in 2015. She is survived by her loving daughter, Susan A. Knorr.
Family and friends are invited to Ruth's Life Celebration on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, from 6:30-9:30pm and again on Thursday, November 21, 2024, from 10:00-11:00am at Kirk and Nice Suburban Chapel, 333 County Line Road, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006. Her Funeral Service will follow at 11:00am.
Ruth's Graveside Service and interment will begin promptly at 1:30pm at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown, PA 18940.
Family services are entrusted to the care of John F. Givnish Funeral Home, Philadelphia.
