George Yeager - Class Of 1952

George Yeager

George C. Yeager

( March 16, 1934 - November 19, 2017 )

George C. Yeager, 83, of Sellersville, Pennsylvania; formerly of Saylorsburg, Warrington, & Philadelphia, PA entered into rest on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at The Community at Rockhill.

He was the loving husband of the late Eleanor F. (Wolford) Yeager for 42 years. George was born at St. Mary's Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Jacob Yeager and the late Beatrice (Winters) Yeager.

In January of 1952, he graduated from Jules E. Mastbaum Area Vocational Technical School in Kensington, Philadelphia, PA. George also attended Temple University.

After graduating high school, he started working at Waterman Products Company in Philadelphia from 1952 to1960. George started at General Electric in 1960 and when he was promoted to manager, he invited his future wife Eleanor to his promotion party, she accepted, and thus began a happy partnership that resulted in marriage in January 1967 and lasted until Eleanor’s passing in 2009. George and Eleanor spent seven months at Cape Kennedy in 1991 prepping for the launch of the Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite (UARS). George and Eleanor returned to Florida for vacation many times after that. George enjoyed a long career at GE, Martin Marietta and Lockheed Martin and retired in January of 1998. In the summer of 2000, George and Eleanor built their dream home in the Poconos.

George enjoyed hunting and fishing with his nephew John and many friends. His trips included places such as Montana, Canada, Florida and Ohio, as well as numerous outings in Pennsylvania. In February 2017, George moved to Sellersville and called the Community at Rockhill his new home. George made many new friends and was extremely happy to be there. It took seven years to get him to move, but once he was there he knew he was 'home' and wished he had made the decision earlier. George's new found friends were near and dear to his heart and he enjoyed various activities with them such as painting, playing bridge and sitting at the "men's" table for dinner. George started an 'open door' policy at Rockhill and was loved by the residents and staff alike.

George loved all Philadelphia sports teams, especially the Flyers. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. George was technologically savvy and enjoyed FaceBook which brought him closer to his family. He was a math wizard who always played with numbers and watched the stock market.

George was always looking forward to the next chapter in life and now his wait to rejoin his loving wife, Eleanor, is finally over. May they both rest in peace together forever.

He is survived by four daughters, Debbie Starnes & husband, Ed of Plainville, CT, Linda A. Marter-Burns of Philadelphia, PA, Bea Thompson & fiancé, Bob Schniers of Chalfont, PA, Alice Girard & husband, Bill Ferguson of Warminster, PA; ten grandchildren – Robert, Kelly, Jennifer, Michaeline, Christopher, Danielle, Christina, Jonathan, Sarah & Paige; twelve great-grandchildren – Ethan, Angel, Tyler, Logan, Caroline, Jadyn, Skylar, Raelyn, Leah, Matthew, Jr., Charlotte & Seraphina and a sister, Isabelle Eberhardt of Yardley, PA.
