Sonya Renee Huggins was born on October 6, 1966, the second child of Daisy Maple Huggins and the late Ellison Huggins Sr. residing in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Sonya was affectionately known as Renee, "Nae" or "Sone".
Sonya is a devout Christian and has accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Sonya worshiped God at Mt. Olive Baptist Church and Yahweh Faith Tabernacle.
Sonya was educated in the Philadelphia system and graduated from Mastbaum High School where she excelled in her studies including her love for the arts. Sonya furthered her education in business and medical studies, learning medical coding.
In 1984 Sonya gave birth to her only child Maurice, raising him to the caring and thoughtful young man he is today through her own strong and nurturing parenting.
Sonya loved the arts, singing and dancing at "Second Child", a youth creative arts center in Philadelphia. Sonya was also a published writer named Soakie Peace, with a collection of poetry in the library of congress named "The Trilogy of a Black Poet" and many Spiritual Devotions on Booksie.com. Sonya was passionate about baking, creating a baking company focused on sticky buns and cakes called Ladybug Sticky Buns.
Sonya was a diligent and hard worker employed at Meridian Bank/Corestates, Fedex, Nutisystem, and the DMV, where she utilized her skills in business.
Sonya leaves to cherish her memory: son Maurice, mother Daisy, Brothers Ellison Jr (Bridget), Dwayne (Nicole), grandmother Janette, Aunts, Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins. Longtime Friends, Lillian, Kevin, Michelle, Donna, Tammy, Dolores. And many neighbors and co workers.
It is with sorrow we release Sonya Renee Huggins into the hands of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and her new occupancy in heaven, her warmth and kindness will always be remembered within her lasting memories.
