Joseph L. Gorski Jr. - Class of 1970

Joseph L. "Joe" Gorski Jr., 69, of Danner Road, Jim Thorpe, passed away on Aug. 11, 2021, in the St. Luke's Hospital, Allentown, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Doris "Dolly" (Marlin) Gorski for 47 years.

Born in Phil-adel-phia, he was a son of the late Joseph L. Gor-ski Sr. and Dolores (Arntz) Gorski.

He was a 1970 graduate of Mastbaum Vocational School, Philadelphia.

He was a highly decorated retired police officer employed for 11 years with the Philadelphia Police Department. After retiring from the force in 1993, he worked until 2016 at the maintenance department at the Carbon County Vocational-Technical School, Jim Thorpe.

An avid hunter, sportsman and home handyman, Joe was known to be constantly updating and working on his house.

He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the NRA.

Surviving in addition to his widow are two sons, Joseph L. III and Michael and his wife, Amanda; two sisters, Diane McFadden and Denise, wife of Al Kramer; a brother John; and a granddaughter Hannah.

He was also predeceased by two sisters, Debbie Schaaf and Susan Carrasquillo.

Service: Funeral service with the Philadelphia Police Department Honor Guard in attendance at noon Tuesday, Aug. 17, Edward F. Melber Funeral Home, 524 Center St., Jim Thorpe. Call 10 a.m.-noon Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name may be made to the Hero Scholarship Fund of Philadelphia, Inc., 5104 Township Line Road, Drexel Hill, PA 19026-4502.
