Michael Keeler, Jr. - Class Of 1977

Michael Keeler, Jr.

Michael R. Keeler Jr. - Class of 1977

Michael R. Keeler Jr. passed away unexpectedly on May 23, 2022 at the age of 62. He is the beloved son of Michael R. Sr. and Margaret "Marge" (nee McCloskey). Devoted father of Kiersteen (Michael Allen). Loving Pop to Arianna Lopez and great grandfather to Wyatt and Violet. Dear brother of Janet Wible (Harry), Joseph (Deborah), Thomas (Sharon), and Margaret. Sadly missed by his former spouse and best friend Joyce, and his many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Michael was born and raised in Fishtown and stayed close to his roots when he moved to Port Richmond. In his youth, he played football and baseball.

Michael graduated from Mastbaum Vocational High School, then was employed at the Philadelphia Water Department for 32 years as a foreman. He was proud to work for PWD. He would talk to Fishtown family and friends about his employer, often recruiting them.

He enjoyed having breakfast and lunch at Johnny’s Hots and Kitty’s Luncheonette. Michael loved meeting new people; his gift of gab enabled hours of conversation with new and old friends, family, and basically anyone with ears.

In the summer months he traveled to West Wildwood, NJ to visit his parents, family, and friends. It brought him great joy to take them for rides on his boat, and enjoy those warm, bright, sunny seashore days.

During the holidays, Michael enjoyed having family and friends over to celebrate. He was always the clown or jokester at the holiday parties. In fact, he was his own party. Michael would don funny hats and create costumes using any household items he could find. Michael always wanted to make people laugh and he made a lasting impression with everyone he met.

All of us who knew him have at least one, funny, “Michael Keeler” story. He will be sadly missed by everyone. Rest in peace Dad, until we meet and laugh with you again.

All services will be private. For those desiring and in lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to a charity of the donor’s choice that benefits mental health or domestic abuse.
