Florence Frost (Smalley)

Florence Frost-Smalley - Class of 1956

SMALLEY, FLORENCE "FLOSS" (nee Frost), 67, of Philadelphia, on Sept. 1, 2006, after a courageous battle with colon cancer. Beloved wife of the late John Smalley; loving mother of Susan (Stevenson), Michael, Steven, and Marc and their spouses; devoted grandmother of 8. A lifelong resident of Philadelphia, Floss graduated from Mastbaum Vo-Tech in June 1956. A loving and selfless mother, Floss chose to devote her life to raising her children and caring for their home. She possessed a giving spirit, and found time to volunteer for various community groups, to include neigh-boring nursing homes. Floss never hesitated to approach strangers and invite them to attend social functions, earning her the title "Welcoming Committee" at the local senior center. Floss loved to dance, easily made friends, and possessed a genuine zest for life. At her request, a Celebration of Life and Memorial Dance will be held on Monday, Sept. 11th, from 1 to 4 P.M., at the Polish Home, 9150 Academy Rd. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that friends honor Floss's memory with a donation to American Cancer Society, 1626 Locust St., Phila. PA 19103.
