Robert V. Borkiewicz - Class of 1955
On January 10, 2019 Robert V. Borkiewicz (aka Bob, Apple Jack, Berkie, Big Bird, The Berk, etc.) passed away peacefully in Peoria, Arizona with his beloved wife, Nancy, by his side. Bob was born on February, 14, 1937 to Victor and Jean Borkiewicz (Moszynski) in Philadelphia. He attended Mastbaum Vocational high school and served faithfully during the Korean War in the 101st Airborne Division of the U.S. Army. Bob was a gifted guitarist who spent his early years playing in a polka band. He also enjoyed playing banjo as a Mummer in the Polish American and Uptown String Bands. Bob worked for the Stein Seal Company as a production supervisor for almost 40 years and retired in 1999. Bob will be remembered for his great sense of humor and leaving everyone he spoke to with a smile. Bob lived a full life: watching old movies, playing pool and cards. He was overjoyed to see his beloved Philadelphia Eagles finally win the Super Bowl. Bob was a loving husband to wife, Nancy (Breisch), loving father to Lisa Kallas and Mark Borkiewicz, adoring step-father to Lenore (Wayne) Laule, Joseph (Lisa) Kallas, Michelle (Erik) Vanella-Kudenko and Anthony (aka T.J.)
