Jerry B. Brukiewa - Class of 1944

Jerry Bernard Brukiewa, 92, of Payson passed away Thursday, March 12, 2020 at his home with his loving wife by his side.

He was born in Philadelphia, PA to Wladislaw and Carolina Wzola Brukiewa on August 20, 1927.  He is the youngest of seven children.

Jerry attended schools in Philadelphia and graduated from high school in 1944.  After graduating he enlisted in the US Navy that following August.  He served on the following ships, the USS Indra, USS ARL37, USS Hector AR7, US Kermit Roosevelt and the ARG16 in the American Asiatic Pacific Theater and China service. After serving in the Navy he enrolled in the University of Utah where he earned his BA of Science in Mechanical Engineering.  He went on to earn his Masters and PHD at USC.

He loved math and could do anything mathematical in his head.  He loved working in the Aerospace industry and had the privilege of working for NASA on the Apollo program.

Jerry loved spending time with his family and enjoyed traveling with them all over the world.  While living in California he enjoyed deep sea fishing with friends.

He is survived by his wife Celia, stepchildren; Celia Regina, Alessandra (Alex), Eduardo (Jessica) and five grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his first wife Jane, his sons Tommy and Larry, parents, siblings and stepson in law, Stephen.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in the Olpin Family Mortuary Chapel, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove.  Family and friends may attend a viewing from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. prior to the service.  Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.  Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com.
